In 1967, Nygard invested in a 20 percent share of Jacob’s Ladies Wear, the same Winnipeg clothing manufacturer where he went to work for sometime after graduation. He bought his share of the company using his life savings and eight thousand dollars’ worth of borrowed capital. Within only a few years, he had become the company’s new owner. In 40 years, that same company would become Nygard International, one of the most well-known clothing brands in all of Canada.

When asked about the secret to his success, Peter Nygard would no doubt attribute it to his own voracious work ethic. He is no stranger to 14-16-hour work days and bold business decisions that would set him far ahead of the curve.

With no less than seven different product lines under its scope, Nygard International was developed expressly for the modern feminine mindset.
